In Arizona pool owners constantly have to deal
with hard water. Hard water is water that has a
greater amount of minerals such as calcium in it
then pool water traditionally should. Throughout
the year your water in your swimming pool
continually evaporates.

Of course you do not notice this because you
have a swimming pool "auto-fill" that turns on
whenever the water level gets below a certain
point and add enough water to raise your water
level back up to where it needs to be.

The reason that pools eventually have higher
levels of minerals in them then they are
supposed to is because as the water evaporates
the minerals that are in the water do not. This is
like if you had a bucket full of salt water that you
left outside to evaporate.

How do I get the white line
removed with pool tile cleaning?
As the water evaporates it leaves the salt behind it, then, if you pour in more salt water
(like using an auto fill) to refill the bucket you will have all the salt that was left over from
the first expired bucket and all the salt from the second refill of water. This leaves you
with twice as much salt as the water naturally has in it. The same thing happens in
Arizona when it comes to swimming pools and minerals. Over the course of a years time a
6 foot deep pool will completely evaporate twice! This means that it has been refilled
twice by the auto fill as well. This also means that by the end of the year your pool has 3
times as many minerals in it then it did when you first filled it up a year ago.

These excess minerals build up in the water and on the tile. It is these excess minerals
you are feeling when you get out of a pool and your skin itches. Having this many
minerals in you pool can also cause the water to feel heavy when you get in it.

The best way to get rid of this buildup around your pool tile is to have a company that
does Pool Tile Cleaning in Arizona. It typically starts at about $3/foot for this tile cleaning
and can be as expensive as $5 or more. It all depends on how extreme the white calcium
tile line buildup is.
